About

Sarah EtelmanI believe in working with others for more efficient and effective government. My experience in both professional and volunteer work has prepared me to communicate well with neighbors, citizen groups, government officials, and town committees.

As one of your current Selectboard members, a Town Meeting member and a past councilor to the Hampshire Council of Governments, I understand how these elected bodies function. I serve on the Board of Know Your Town (KYT) and was Chairwoman of the South Hadley Democratic Town Committee for 5 years. Over the past several years, I have participated in and helped organize community service projects in our town, including serving on the board of the South Hadley Farmers’ Market, delivering meals to our homebound neighbors, coordinating food drives, and working with the South Hadley Community Coalition to Prevent Suicide.

I have owned a home in South Hadley since 1997, and have spent most of the past nearly-20 years working for non-profit organizations in the Pioneer Valley. During my eight years at CareerPoint, the one-stop career center in Holyoke, I managed the training department and taught computer skills to adults. I have worked as the development manager at Girls Inc. of Holyoke since early 2011. Through all of these endeavors, I have come to understand how teams and organizations work successfully together, and apply that knowledge to my work on the South Hadley Selectboard.
